Reformatting proposal

coi

Bob has mentioned that the revision of the gismu list will be a
LOT of work, and so I propose that we divide up the task.
Specifically, the gismu can be divided up by their initial
consonants; each interested party can claim a group of gismu (and
do so on the list, so no one else duplicates their efforts!) and
then go through the list and reformat the material. I found this
to be a pretty good way to learn some vocabulary, too.

I have appended in the body of this letter my reformat job of the
B group. The starting material was the gismu list I downloaded
from the Lojban web page. The new format I've used is as
follows:

*gismu [rafsi] gloss
x1 = description of x1
x2 = description of x2
etc.
"sample abstract sentence which demonstrates how the sumti are
related"
Notes:    additional information
Compare:  similar or related words

The * at the beginning is important for those who might be using
the document in electronic form; it allows a text search for the
gismu which will miss any other references to the gismu in other
definitions (e.g. in the Compare: field). If x1 (or x2, etc.)
specifies an object, be sure to start the definition off as
"something which..." or "one which..." or even "that which..."
The sample sentence form can be understood by looking at the
examples in the entries below.

I hope we can get some people interested in this project. This
only took me a morning of steady work; even if you can't spare
that much time, if a person takes a category and does only a page
of words per day, most of the word sets will be completed within
a few weeks.

Feel free to email me if you have any more questions.
