"
Dr Pepper is, of course, the drink of the Gods; but
unfortunately, some of us go to college and are bound by
financial restraints that do not allow for the
consumption of such heavenly liquids. As a result, we
budget-mimded folk have been forced to resort to generic-
or unknown-brand imitations. All I desire to do here is
to point out which to try and which to stay the fu** away
from.
1) Safeway: "The Skipper" This is no Dr Pepper. It is
more cherry-tasting and more chemical-like in flavor.
The diet version has been known to induce vomiting and/or
nausea in the guts of many. Beware: IF you try this one,
make sure to buy ONE CAN ONLY at first. It is far
inferior to the Doc, but one CAN get used to it...
2) Lucky: "Dr. Smooth: Secret Recipe Soda" Oh my God,
this stuff should be recalled by the EPA!!! ALL of
Lucky's "Presiden't Choice" drinks SUCK! STAY AWAY!!
3) Albertson's: "Dr. A+" Definitely worth a try. Seems
to be more a mix of Dr Pepper and Mr. Pibb, for it is
smoother, yet lacks the "bite" of the original Doc.
4) Independent Company: "Dr. Wells" I'm sad to say it
folks, but this is the one for me. I discovered it at
the dining commons here at Davis, and it is a wonderful
drink. Think of it as the Satan of Sodas, for it will
tempt you to abandon your true calling: focused and
sacred Dr Pepper worship and drinkage. If you try this
tempting little beverage, be wary of its powers and go
into the situation with faith and loyalty to guide you
back to the Dr.
Amen.
I have a friend who used to have Dr Pepper delivered to
his house by truck. No, not his friend's pickup-a Dr
Pepper delivery TRUCK. Now, that one deserves some credit.
Long live the Pepper!"
- John Fasciani
"Hey! It's really irritating that the powers that be restrict Dr Pepper
from airline flights! We need to rally all Dr Pepper freaks to bring
unbelieveable pressure on United, Continental, Delta, et al to wake up
and smell the coffee!" Here! Here!
- jeffrey stephenson
"Every time I go to a resturaunt I ask for Dr. Pepper. Even if I have
been there a thousand times I still ask for it. I guess Im a crusader for
the worlds best and most underated soft drink Dr.Pepper!!!!"
- David Campbell
"Dr Pepper has been my drink of choice for over 35 years! I also
collect Dr Pepper memorabilia, which is actually why I am writing (i.e. I
don't care if you add my name to the list, although I would consider it an
honor!); specifically I understand there is a Dr Pepper Museum somewhere
in Texas. It is actually about soft drinks in general I think, but I
wondered if you knew of it, and if there was any chance you had an
address for it? Thanks for the WWW page." Yes! Check out the
History section.
- The Men of Spruce
"The entire house at 1620 Spruce is a big fan of Dr Pepper. Many of
us could not have endured the perils of "all-nighters" had it not
been for this perfect beverage, which comes in the 12 oz, 16 oz, 32
oz, 1 liter, 2 liter, and, oh yes, the 3 liter variety. Believe us
when we tell you that we know them all very well." Cool.

When I moved to Southern California from Dallas (my hometown), I was very disappointed to find that my favorite soft drink, Dr Pepper,
was not as prevalent on the west coast. I took it upon myself to help bolster Dr Pepper's popularity by developing a marketing plan which
aimed to increase sales and awareness among young adults living in the Golden State. The plan was designed to give Dr Pepper more
Generation X appeal. I submitted it to the instructor of a marketing course that I took, but I have not decided whether I will submit it to Dr Pepper or not.

My name is Chuck McManis and I am a Pepper. Generally Diet Dr. Pepper
after I nearly passed out from a low blood sugar experience while swimming.
(personally I think there is nothing wrong with a 20oz "Instant Breakfast"
but the physician on call suggested something with some protein as well :-)
And yes I was the guy at U.S.C. that got Dr. Pepper delivered to his dorm room
from the local bottler in L.A. because the only decent market near there
(32nd St.) complained that I was cleaning them out too often and then during
break they would get overstocked. The bottler did insist that they had to
deliver at least a case a week :-) (I took 3)
I'm glad Northern CA is finally got decent stock, when the pepsi (they are the
local bottler) decided to stop doing returnable bottles the local grocery got
their last stock (3 pallets with about 100 cases) The were selling them to me
for 4 (yes four!) dollars per case of 16oz returnables. That was my best Dr. Pepper
deal.
I'm glad there are other people who drink it like I do, I was concerned the FBI was
tracking me by watching Dr. Pepper sales in California! :-)

To be completely honest I am not a huge Dr. Pepper fan. I like it and all.... don't get me wrong. My fascination with Dr Pepper has more to do with its composition. See, I heard this rumor that Dr Pepper has prunes in i

Can I get you some thing else?" I looked at him and said, "No!" And we drived off. Eventualy we found the oasis of refreshment at the local 7-eleven. Thank god for the Dr.!!

The worst part of traveling (outside of Texas) is the difficulty in finding this soft drink of choice. If you ever visit the Waco museum, be sure to try the Dr Pepper milkshake . . . "out of this world!" The original Dr
Pepper with Pure Cane sugar from Dublin is well worth the trip. Added bonus: they are adding an old fashion soda shop and have a museum of their own. Not to mention their bottling plant which is still in operation every Tuesday -- great fun!

Dr. Pepper rules, but I've found that after awhile you get this really syrupy nasty taste in your mouth, and that's not cool.
Also, why is it that some Dr. Peppers taste immensely better than others? And what's with the different size/shape cans? I prefer the
small top, concave version. And aren't there cans that are slightly different colors? Long live Dr. Pepper, and God Bless...

I have an interesting story to tell. One
day, when I was in high school, while I
was walking to class drinking from my
morning liter bottle of Dr Pepper, I
experienced what I have now come to know
as a Dr Pepper heart attack. It was on
the third or fourth chug when my throat
seized up and my chest was gripped with
a clinching pain. I doubled over, leaned
on the wall, and while losing vision I
stumbled to class. I sat down and under
the sympathetic onlook of my friends, I
slowly recovered. I was puzzled by this
phenomenon but have compiled the evidence
and now feel that the most probable ex-
planation is the one that follows. The
previous day, I had given a pint of
pepper at a blood drive in the school's
auditorium. I believe that with the loss
of pressure in my veins, I began to fizz
whenever jarred. The morning of my heart
attack, the simultaneous motion of
walking while introducing so much fresh
pepper into my system caused a massive
fizzing. The carbonated bubbles of life,
which had so often provided me with
ounce upon ounce of pure joy, accumulated
in my heart, a very dangerous situation.
Fortunately, my second love, Natalie
(second to the Pepper), saved me by
patting me on the back. I believe it was
this action, similar to tapping the top
of a can to reduce fizzing, that calmed
the carbonation and allowed my heart to
continue supplying my vitals with the
vital of life, Dr Pepper.

My school has no recycling, so I save my
bottles and cans in my locker. They fall
out every day. A big newspaper in NH used
a picture of me at the volcanic locker for
an article on me and my recycling ideas.
The reported called me a "Pepper". I feel
very gratified to be placed with this title

I´m from Germany and spent one year in Idaho, Pocatello as an exchange student (I´m from Germany). As you might know there is not much besides potatoes in idaho and so without Dr.Pepper I would not have stayed alive up th
ere. Now after having returned to Germany it is quite hard to figure out where you can buy some Dr.Pepper because the Pepsi cola Corp did not introduce it to the German market (i mean how stupid do you have to be???) hey but I found a little store here in
Cologne (my city) that imports Dr.Pepper from the US and so I can continue to start everyday with a Dr.Pepper.

Sir:
I'm 53 years old and grew up near Waco,
Texas, where the company was founded.
Rumor then was that Dr. Pepper was
made of prune juice.
Behind the main plant in downtown Waco
were remains of millions and millions
prune pits. I still remember the flies
swarming in the hot summer.
Try this. Shake the bottle or can
vigorously and continuously until the
carbonation is relieved. Then taste
what remains. You will discover the
*real* flavor of Dr. Pepper -- prunes!
Now that I am old and fast approaching
decrepitude (sp?), I find I need Dr.
Pepper more and more. (You will
understand when you're my age.) So list
me as another confirmed Dr. Pepper
"user".
Jay Goode
Euless, Texas
P.S.
I still remember those flies ....

Borp... sorry, just had a 'guess what'
I met DrPepper the first time when I was travelling the USA on a motorcycle in summer 1993. As I live in Germany (Munich, Bavaria, Land of Beer, Lederhosen, Weisswurst, Oktoberfest, Bretzel...but no DrPepper) it was a very painful time until a shop opened
, which sold souveniers from the USA and of COURSE: DrPepper. Well, they imported about 48 cans ! of DP from the USA for whole BAVARIA...
This shop closed soonely and the owner wasn't seen anymore...
But I found a new deli-store in Munich which also sells six-packs, and they seem not to go out of storage anytime. (Please excuse my errors) So, if anyone in the area of munich has problems to get something good to drink, fahrt mit der U-Bahn zur Fraunhof
erstrasse und holt euch das Zeug, (six-pack fuer 12 Mark).
Soon I will cover the metal-parts of my Kawasaki with the opened DrPepper-cans, but there are still some cans to drink, before I can start.
So I have to stop now and go on drinking, borp! (sorry)
